Net Lynk launches innovative broadband recycling program
Dedicated to reducing the carbon footprint of Broadband and thus eliminating the need for landfill, Net Lynk Limited, the UK’s leading broadband customisation, distribution and fulfilment solutions provider, have launched a free online equipment take-back initiative – www.broadbandrecycle.com.
With the environment being a key concern, Broadband Recycle is a groundbreaking project which helps consumers and businesses trade in any type of broadband equipment or accessory, regardless of its brand or condition - damaged, broken, old or simply unwanted. The scheme also rewards users with money-off vouchers and further discounts.
Jeff Pitt, National Accounts Director of Net Lynk Limited and Broadbandrecycle.com Project Manager commented: “According to Ofcom (The Consumer Experience 2007 report: Telecoms, Internet and Digital Broadcasting 2007) service providers are constantly converging offerings to increase the amount of choice for consumers. Service providers are now opting to provide connectivity equipment free of charge as part of their service offering.
40% of UK consumers are now buying bundled services which typically combine a broadband connection with TV, Internet, Phone & Mobile facility.
As such, we see consumers are choosing the best deals and constantly switching service provider packages which mean that new equipment is supplied upon each change. This leads to an increased amount of unwanted equipment.
The scheme gives the broadband industry and consumers the unique opportunity to trade-in any type of broadband hardware such as wireless equipment, modems, routers, filters, cables and power adapters.
As with all types of electronic equipment, broadband hardware contains a wide range of hazardous materials, including lead and mercury, which are potentially harmful to the climate if not disposed of properly and safely.
Net Lynk has an environmental commitment to reducing e-waste and, in partnership with accredited recyclers, we will reuse or dispose the equipment in a safe and responsible manner without resorting to landfill.
Notes to editors:
How it works:
1. The consumer needs to register their equipment at www.broadbandrecycle.com to apply for freepost resources (choose either a jiffy bag sent by broadbandrecycle.com within 7 working days, or print a freepost label).
2. The consumer will also receive a tracking code to see whether their reused or recycled.
3. Once Net Lynk receives the equipment, the consumer also receives money off vouchers and further discounts.
